Central to my clinical practice is fostering a supportive, safe and trusting environment that enables individuals to (1) identify treatment goals, (2) explore factors contributing to presenting issues, and (3) collaboratively develop and participate in a treatment plan. I am passionate about working with people of all ages, including children, adolescents and adults.

In terms of qualifications and training, I completed my undergraduate (B Psychology) and doctoral qualifications (PhD in Clinical Psychology) at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales. For a number of years post-university, I worked in a primary mental health care setting in Newcastle, where I had the pleasure of working with people across all ages with an array of clinical presentations.

Working with children

When working with children and families, I offer intervention based on the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy framework, as well as family systems support aligned with two evidence-based programs: Circle of Security (CoS) and Triple P. I have a background in seeing clients with the following presentations: depression and anxiety, sleep disruptions, adjustment difficulties, school refusal, relationship issues, emotion dysregulation, and challenging behaviours.

Working with teenagers

In my work with adolescents and adults, I offer interventions aligned to the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy frameworks. I am passionate about increasing individuals’ quality of life, through attainment of personal treatment goals.

Working with adults:

I have experience working with people experiencing:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety (including social anxiety, chronic worry, fears and phobias, & panic attacks)
  • adjustment issues (including during the perinatal period)
  • grief and loss
  • substance misuse
  • Self-esteem
  • relationship difficulties
  • sleep disorders
  • emotion dysregulation
  • personality vulnerabilities.

My PhD research was in the area of public health and focussed assisting adults with mental illness to improve their physical health through reducing chronic disease risk behaviours, such as tobacco use. Since completing the PhD, my research interests have broadened to include assessing and treating suboptimal sleep in the Australian population.

Concurrent to my role as a clinician, I work as a Clinical Psychology Lecturer at Murdoch University – teaching, and providing clinical and research supervision to students enrolled in the Professional and Clinical Psychology Masters programs.
