HeartKids Coordinator
I have been part of the team at J&R since 2020, working with clients across the lifespan across a wide range of concerns. I have particular interests in working with anxiety difficulties and in supporting those who have experienced trauma, to help reduce the impact of distressing memories and build a sense of empowerment moving forward in life.
I take an individualised, collaborative, and evidence-based approach in therapy, with a readiness to listen to what has brought you here and discuss how we can best work together to meet your goals. I place a high value on creating a safe, non-judgemental space for all my clients, and try to always take a neuro-affirming approach in treatment with neurodivergent individuals.
Areas I can support you with include:
- Anxiety (including generalised worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, and phobias)
- Posttraumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, and other trauma-related concerns
- Depression and other mood disorders
- Sleep problems
- Self-esteem and self-compassion
- Adjustment difficulties following life changes
- Stress, burnout, and perfectionism
- Emotion regulation and interpersonal difficulties
- Parenting challenges
- Grief and adjustment to health-related concerns
I do not see clients whose primary concerns are in substance use, eating disorders, or anger management difficulties. I also do not perform diagnostic assessments for ADHD or Autism, and do not provide court reports or conduct legal assessments.
I primarily draw upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema-focused therapy, but the treatment approach we take will depend on your individual needs and the evidence-based recommendations for your presenting difficulties.
I tend to draw from the following therapeutic approaches:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Schema-focused therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Imagery rescripting
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
- Metacognitive therapy
- Mindfulness techniques
- Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS)
I have completed the level one training for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based treatment for trauma. I am also the coordinator of our HeartKids service and work to support HeartKids families with difficulties linked to their experiences of child-onset heart diseases as well as other life challenges.
Clinical Supervision
I am a Board Approved Supervisor and offer one-on-one (in-clinic or online) supervision for generally registered psychologists and those undertaking the clinical psychology registrar program. I can provide supervision in the above areas for clients across the lifespan. I aim to tailor supervision to your needs while also holding in mind the PsyBA competency requirements and longer-term goals that you may be working towards in your career. I take a reflective practice approach to supervision, aiming to support the development of your clinical skills while also recognising your own emotional responses, while staying grounded in ethical decision-making and evidence-based approaches to treatment.
I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Western Australia, my Masters of Psychology (Clinical) at Curtin University, and have experience within both public and private mental health settings.
