Dr Kate Harwood

I have been a Clinical Psychologist for over 15 years and it's a role I enjoy and I bring a warm, compassionate approach to my work. Making a therapy appointment takes courage and my aim is to create a safe space for you to work on the problems that prompted you to seek help. I am passionate about providing evidence based mental health care. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches in my practice including cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, and dialectical behaviour therapy. My goal as a therapist is to provide you with the skills to overcome the difficulties that brought you to therapy and make lasting positive changes in your life.

I have worked on multidisciplinary teams in private and public mental health hospitals throughout my career and enjoy working collaboratively with other health professionals. I have also maintained a part time private practice for a number of years. These roles have given me extensive experience working with people seeking help for a wide range problems including:

• Anxiety
• Perinatal mental health
• Self esteem
• Grief and loss
• Perinatal mental health
• Adjustment to stressful life events

I completed my training at the University of Western Australia and have a Master of Clinical Psychology and PhD. I am registered with the Psychology Board of Australia with endorsement in Clinical Psychology and I am member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association.
